The Center for Ecoliteracy is located in Berkeley, California, at the confluence of the Pacific Ocean and the San Francisco Bay-Delta. The waters of the San Francisco Bay-Delta are collected in a vast watershed that encompasses roughly 60,000 square miles (about 40 percent of California), stretching from the Cascades to the Tehachapi Mountains, and from the Sierra Nevada to the sea. The San Francisco Bay-Delta watershed includes the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers as well as their tributaries, Suisun Marsh, San Pablo Bay, and the San Francisco Bay.
