Smart by Nature
The Center for Ecoliteracy’s newest initiative is Smart by Nature:
Schooling for Sustainability. This initiative provides information, inspiration,
and support to the vital movement of K-12 educators, parents, and others
who are helping young people gain the knowledge, skills, and values essential
to sustainable living.
Rethinking School Lunch
The Center’s popular Rethinking School Lunch program is based on
the idea that hands-on experience growing and preparing food is a powerful
way for children to:
- Discover that healthy food tastes good
- Explore the cycles, seasons, and other processes of nature
- Learn about the relationships between the health of natural and social
systems
School Gardens
As a pioneer in inspiring and supporting school gardens, the Center offers
Getting Started, A Guide for Creating School Gardens
as Outdoor Classrooms (free to schools in the USA). |
