MAUREEN Pisanick:
Hello Liz - thank you for supporting CN programs for our nation!

00:43:45
Abby Halperin | Center for Ecoliteracy:
Liz, thank you so much for this! It’s worth nothing that the COVID-19 relief emergency funds that will help make up 55% of the difference for schools and child care are for March - June 2020. Still work to do for this current school year, here’s hoping it can be included in the next stimulus package.

00:44:19
Kat Soltanmorad:
YES! Universal Meals! Go Academy!

00:45:01
Kat Soltanmorad:
Hopefully school nutrition employees especially those who worked next day in March and have not stopped, reach some kind of federal pay?

00:45:17
Emily Cena:
Any discussion about regional indexing of income cut-offs that account for cost of living differences?

00:45:39
Susan Dalandan:
Please, where is Elizabeth from?

00:46:20
Lori McCoy:
While I applaud the EBT program, we are finding it has effected our meal particpation (lowering it), as we are offering free meals for students while they learn vitrually.  Anyone have ideas as to how to maximize both benefits?

00:53:34
Paloma Perez Bertrand I LunchAssist:
Hello Lori, yes, we have heard that lower participation in school meals may be an unintended consequence of P-EBT, we are hoping there is more funding support coming for CN programs in the near future for the months after June 2020.

Jiwon Jun:
Re: USDA Q&A (thank you, first off, for providing a summary of the Q&A), but for the CACFP attendance record and school meal application update, do you recommend we wait to implement any changes until we hear updates from CDE?

01:14:07
Stephanie Bruce:
Just make meals universally free.  That is the best reimbursement increase we can get

01:14:46
Barbara Hughes:
I don't know if a question asked earlier was answered, so forgive me if it was...Liz is a dietitian and the Senior Director of Legislative and Govt Affairs with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

01:15:04
Paloma Perez Bertrand I LunchAssist:
Yes Stephanie, Jared and Angeles -who joined today- are with Nourish CA and they are focus on Universal Free Meals so kids whose families make just above the federal limits ($34K for a family of four) can still access meals. Especially important since there is no immigration status test for school meals, unlike CalFresh.

01:15:10
Laurel Goins:
I agree with Stephanie. Universal free meals is the way to go!

01:15:16
Paloma Perez Bertrand I LunchAssist:
Thank you Jared and Angeles!

01:15:21
Mickinzie Lopez:
Jiwon - YES, I would recommend waiting for the CDE townhall this month for more updates!

01:15:47
Stephanie Bruce:
The guidance on the $0.55 should be out this week, then the state agencies have 30 days to apply for those funds

01:16:05
Deirdre Kleske:
Yes, Stephanie Bruce, or at least make it easier for many more schools to qualify for CEP and receive funding to make it financially viable.

01:17:09
Paloma Perez Bertrand I LunchAssist:
Thank you so much Liz!!!!
